Apple (https://www.apple.com/) plans on adding Live Listen, a feature previously only available for Made for iPhone hearing aids, to the iOS 12 update coming out this fall. Live Listen will allow the microphone of an iPhone to transmit audio to paired AirPods and amplify it for its user. Once the feature is enabled, the iPhone can be used as a directional mic. Live Listen was originally developed for iPhone users with hearing aids, who have the option to turn the feature on and off and to adjust volume. TechCrunch noted that AirPods with Live Listen is not a full replacement for a hearing aid and that it’s best to discuss with an audiologist about your best hearing solutions. (TechCrunch.
